#7 BRANDON JOHNSON highlights (2017)

Strengths
  • He is a big-framed physical receiver that offers a substantially wide catch radius.
  • He is one of the more experienced receivers in the draft after spending five years at Tennessee and taking advantage of the Covid season to offer more of his skills.
  • He possesses excellent concentration when catching the ball with his hands, keeping his eyes on the catch point.
  • He can be a route technician; he sells his controlled route patterns and can dictate where he wants to go to the defensive back.
  • He will set up the defensive back to land in their blind spots to create separation to catch the ball.
  • He will use the sideline to shield the defender with his wide frame to pluck the ball out of the air.
  • He tracks the ball well, a technician at back shoulder fades, and red zone targets.

Weaknesses
  • He is a bit stiff with high hips that can allow defenders at the next level to study his movements in routes,
  • He lacks the vertical speed to stretch the field against the defense.
  • He struggles off the line of scrimmage against press coverages and needs to get stronger.
  • He tends to dance a lot in his routes, which can be crucial in the timing of passing plays.
  • He does not show playmaking ability; he is best as a possession receiver at the next level.
  • He does not break many tackles or offer more after the catch.

Draft Projection: PFA - UDFA

NFL Comparison: Jauan Jennings (San Francisco 49ers)
