Player Bio: John Ridgeway attended Bloomington High School, located in Bloomington, IL. He was a three-year starter at Bloomington High School.
Ridgeway earned All Big-12 offensive line selection and all-state defensive line selection in 2017. He wrestled all fours years at Bloomington High and placed fourth in the state. Ridgeway also competed in the shot put and discus for Bloomington's track and field team. He was later named Bloomington High School’s Athlete of the Year in 2017.

Strengths

• ​He is a momentous defensive lineman in the interior.
• He is a tremendously physical interior lineman with a massive frame and long arms.
• He is a relentless player who plays with a high motor
• He generally dishes out the initial contact to halt the push from the offensive line.
• His strength is impeccable as he uses his strong hands to help disengage blocks.
• He has the great discipline to keep gap containment in a rush.
• He has the build for a 3-4 alignment to play one, three, or five-tech positions.

Weaknesses

• Despite being so forceful, his length is too tall to play ant the nose.
• He will need to develop better pass-rushing techniques to play regularly at the three-tech position.
• He definitely will be a two-down and short-yardage defensive lineman. 
• He tends to play above the pad level.
• He does not have lower body strength as offensive linemen will push him around if he is not winning the leverage battle.
