Player Bio: Kaiir Elam attended Benjamin High School, located in Riviera Beach, FL. He was a wide receiver and defensive back as he recorded 71 tackles, nine interceptions, and three sacks while on offense; he caught 97 catches for 1,490 yards and 15 touchdowns throughout his career. He would help Benjamin High to the 2018 FHSAA Class 3A Regional Final and 2017 FHSAA Class 3A Regional Semifinals. Elam played basketball and ran track for Benjamin, averaging 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game last basketball season; he finished eighth in the 100 meters at the 2018 FHSAA Class 1A State Finals.

Strengths

• He has excellent size, length, speed, and strength to compete in press coverage at the next level.
• He uses his speed to stay glued to the receivers' hip pocket, as he can run their routes from their side to side.
• He is very silky and fluid in his hips as he can open up his hips fast and smoothly adjust during the route.
• He has excellent vision, and his cerebral skills help him with the receiver's route recognition.
• His strength allows him to play against the bigger receivers and can jam them at the line of scrimmage in press coverages.
• He is a ballhawk who is a threat no matter where on the field to intercept the ball.
• He is physical and challenges the ball at the catch point, actively his hands punching at the ball, even on 50/50 passes.
• He can play in most coverages, whether man or zone coverages.
• He does not shy away from tackling and will fly downhill fast to blow up the run or screen passes.

Weaknesses

• His production this past season slid significantly with his approach leaving him off the All-SEC teams.
• He struggled against the quicker and faster receivers off the line of scrimmage in man coverage; they frequently beat him off the line as he looked to recover. 
• He allows too much separation at the top of the route from the receivers as they clobber his cushion.
• He will pull and tug at the receiver when he gets beat off the line.
• He frequently takes poor angles to the ball and can be inconsistent in tackles.
