Player Bio: Leo Chenal attended Grantsburg High School, located in Grantsburg, MI. He played running back and linebacker for Grantsburg and finished his career with 385 tackles, 55 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and three interceptions on defense and amassing 3,706 rushing for 68 touchdowns as well as 1,300 receiving yards for 17 touchdowns. His talent earned him the 2018 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year, MaxPreps All-America first team (small school), Wisconsin Football Coaches Association first-team all-state (small schools), Wisconsin’s small school Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, John Anderson Award, and  All-Lakeland Conference first team. He earned All-Lakeland honors in basketball and track and field while rounding it all out as a National Honor Society Recipient.

Strengths

• He is talented and significantly athletic, which surprised many at the 2022 NFL Combine.
• He ran low 4.5 in the forty, and his jumps were stunning at 40½ and 128-inches which signifies that he has a powerful lower body.
• He is a very spontaneous player who showed up all across the field in the film study.
• He is a phenom against the run, who will maintain his base and not give up ground while contributing to making the tackle.
• He has exceptional toughness, willing to take on lead blocks and scrape off to make tackles.
• He has a quick burst of speed with sideline-to-sideline speed to make tackles.
• He has excellent closing speed and uses good leverage to get underneath blocks to sustain tackles.
• He has excellent pass rush capabilities and establishes severe pressure inside the A-gaps to disrupt the timing of plays.

Weaknesses

• He does not fully control his body with speed as he struggles to redirect.
• He struggles to read recognition of plays and will bite on play-action pass plays.
• He does have great vision as he will struggle to navigate through traffic.
• He needs to improve on coverage skills downfield and tends to lose his assignment.
• He has shorter than normal arms that will cost him to defend in tight coverage.
