Player Bio: Tatum Slack, a JC transfer from Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California, played in eight games as a freshman. Slack recorded one interception and three pass deflections and 11 tackles. After his transfer to the University of Buffalo, he played in every game for the Bulls. He started 25-games, ending his career with 77 total tackles (56 solos), four tackles for loss, one forced fumble, two interceptions, and 15 pass deflections. Led his Bulls team in 2017 with nine pass breakup. One career sack that sealed a victory for Buffalo against Akron in 2016. Slack once was asked what was one of his pregame rituals? He responded by saying he prays throughout the day and visualize himself making plays. His father Ron Slack played running back at San Diego State and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams. Slack also had an uncle Chris Davis who played linebacker for the 1987 New York Giants.

Game Film
#9 Tatum Slack Highlights

Strengths: Exceptionally quick, with good speed and swift feet. A good leaper with the ability to jump to defend taller receivers. Good fluid hips and has the ability to turn and run with any receiver. Good press cover corner that interrupts passing routes. The ability to identify routes and that places himself in position to break on the ball. Has quick hands that help to create pass deflections. A physical player that does not shy away from contact. A bit of a firecracker that will come up and deliver a bang.

Weaknesses: Short in height that can expose him in red zone play with the taller receivers.  An aggressive player with at times can get himself out of position. Can be exposed to double moved routes with using his aggressiveness against him. Need to be able to shed blockers with not allowing them to attack inside his torso area. Does not play that well in space but does make the effort of coming up. Lunges at tackles opposed to driving through in open space.

Draft Grade: 4.92

Draft Projection:  6th - UDFA

Does He Fit?: Slacks statistic does not stick out, however the one area that do, is his capability of breaking up passes during his career. In the 2018 Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, AL, Slack displayed his great breaking ability to the ball with two near interceptions. As good of a press cover defender Slack play, he fits in with the defensive scheme of Wade Phillips play calling. Has the ability to play outside but will be a better fit as a slot corner. Probably will be a significant contributor on special teams and a quality backup at the next level or even a practice squad player for further development. Probably will be a day three draft selection with any team that needs a press corner.

We thank you for alerting us of this error, as we’ve edited and corrected the information.

As we create many profiles we use a template of previous players and just missed that change.

Best Regards,
